Panorama falls to Van Meter after 1-3 finish at Saturday tourney

PANORA — Van Meter blew through Panorama in WCC volleyball Tuesday with a 3-0 sweep on scores of 25-8, 25-12 and 25-7.

The Panthers fell to 2-15 overall and 0-5 in conference action with the loss. The setback came three days after a 1-3 effort at the Southwest Valley Invitational in Corning, where Panorama collected their first win of the season with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) victory over CAM. The Panthers were defeated by Audubon (21-6, 21-11), Lenox (21-18, 22-20) and Southwest Valley (17-21, 21-11, 15-5) in their other matches Saturday.

Panorama’s Hope Wilderman had two kills an Morgan Johnk, Brooke Halterman and Nicole Rolfes one each in Tuesday’s loss to Van Meter. Adrienne Powell had three assists, with Faith Powell making five digs while Olivia Richey and Rolfes had four apiece. Johnk had two digs, with Halterman, Kennedy Kuta and MaKenna Woodvine tallying one each.

Kuta was 3-of-3 serving with two aces and Halterman 4-of-5 with one ace. Adrienne Powell was 5-of-7, Woodvine 3-for-3, Faith Powell and Rolfes each 2-for-2, while Richey was 0-for-1.

Halterman and Rolfes combined for six kills apiece Saturday, with Christin Koch and both Adrienne and Faith Powell recording four each. Wilderman had three kills, Kuta two and Carson Fisher and Mathison Twigg one apiece. Adrienne Powell tallied 15 total assists, with seven other players providing single assists.

Faith Powell and Rolfes led the defense with 16 digs each, with Richey and Woodworth each recording nine digs. Carson Fisher had five digs, Adrienne Powell, Wilderman and Twigg two apiece and Koch one.

Halterman and Wilderman accounted for four blocks each, with Fisher, Koch and Rolfes in on three blocks each.

Wilderman was 10-14-3 behind the line, with Woodworth 9-11-2, Adrienne Powell 10-13-2 and Faith Powell 13-15-1. Kuta served 10-11-2 and Halterman 8-11-2, with Twigg 8-of-9, Rolfes 7-of-10 and and Richey 0-for-1.

The Panthers return to play Tuesday when they host Class 2A No. 9 Woodward-Granger.
