WOODWARD — A combined 41-24 edge in scoring over the second and third quarters proved to be enough to lift the Panorama boys to a 74-66 win over the Woodward Academy Friday.

The Panthers (4-5, 4-4) held a 17-13 lead after the opening eight minutes before entering the half with a 36-27 edge. A 22-10 burst in the third period generated a 58-37 lead. The Knights did their best to reverse their fortunes with a 29-16 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter, but the margin entering the frame proved too much to overcome, leaving the guests with the West Central Conference victory.

Gracen Welberg poured in 23 points for Panorama, with Bryce Halterman adding 20 points and Jeramy Randol 17 points. Luke South and Trey Cobb had four points apiece, with Peyton Parker adding three points, Michael Allen two and Will Babcock one.

Randol had seven rebounds, Halterman six and South and Welberg five apiece, with Halterman and Welberg each distributing four assists while Cobb led the way with seven. Halterman had three steals and Welberg two, with Randol blocking a shot.

Four Knights hit for double-digits in the loss. Amman Johnson and Rashawn Marshall had 15 points apiece, with Ammari Johnson adding 12 points and Jay’Quise Norton 10. Nine points from Kashad Hawthorne and five from Ruben Islas capped the scoring for the Academy.

Panorama returns to action Tuesday when they host Des Moines Christian, with West Central Valley visiting Panora Friday.
