PANORA — The chore for new Panorama girls cage head coach Kylee Boettcher as the season began was as simple as it was daunting: start over, more or less.

Graduation removed several veteran starters, and with them went both playing experience and most of the team’s leading statistics.

An 0-2 start might have derailed some squads, but Boettcher’s Panthers have rebounded nicely, and enter 2020 5-2 overall and 4-1 in WCAC action. The team averages 54.4 points and 24.7 rebounds per game so far, and have made 70 assists and 116 steals. Panorama is shooting 64.3 percent at the foul line and 35.1 percent from the floor — both numbers that will need to improve to continue the strong start. They have connected on 46-of-164 (28 percent) beyond the 3-point arc.

Sophomore guard Payton Beckman leads the team with an 18.6 point per game average. She has 42 steals and 17 assists, is shooting 34-of-44 (77.3 percent) from the stripe and 16-of-45 (35.6 percent) on 3-point shots.

Fellow soph Angel Poldberg averages 10.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per outing, and has made 15 steals while blocking six shots.

Junior Ella Waddle (7.8 ppg) has 23 steals and 14 assists, with sophomore Laci Rishel (6.4 ppg) having distributed 19 steals. Senior Anna Holloway (6.3 ppg) and junior Shey Storesund (5.2 ppg) are also playing key roles for the Panthers.

Panorama resumes their season Friday with a trip to Ogden, with a Jan. 10 visit to West Central Valley also on tap.
