PANORA — Host Panorama made short work of East Sac County in girls soccer Thursday, erupting for a 10-0 victory that ended, via the mercy rule, with 15 minutes remaining in regulation.

Sophomore sisters Audrey and Paige Cmelik, who burst onto the scene last year with 25 and 20 goals, respectively, were up to their old tricks Tuesday, with each recording a hat trick (three goals). Lexi Rishel, Angel Poldberg, Ella Waddle and Chloe Webster also found the back of the net for the hosts.

With the offense showing little rust, co-coach Curt Thornberry focused on the defensive effort of his squad.

“The defense held strong,” he said. “Bryn Stefen led the back line, and with good performances from AC/GC freshman Mia Ochletree at left back and senior right back Erica Block we were able to control the defensive flanks. This was a much better performance compared to last game (a 5-0 win over DM Hoover Monday).”

Ashley Clark earned the shutout in goal for Panorama.

Paige Cmelik started the scoring, with Rishel adding the second score and Audrey Cmelik the third. Poldberg made it 4-0, with a Paige Cmelik score setting the halftime tally at 5-0.

Waddle started the second half scoring, with Audrey Cmelik scoring twice and Paige Cmelik once before Webster’s goal ended the match early.

Panorama plays just once next week, hosting Grand View Christian for a coed bill Thursday. The girls match will begin at 5 p.m. with the boys underway at 7 p.m.
