A Celebration of Life service for Patricia “Trish” Riley, 80, of Grand Junction will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 at Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson, with family present starting at 11 a.m.

Patricia “Trish” Ann Riley left to join the Lord at the age of 80 on the 13th day of January 2019. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Manson, Iowa, immediately prior to her death.

Trish was born Oct. 19, 1938, in San Diego, Calif., to Roland and Geraldine Riley. She had two siblings, a brother, Terry, and a sister, Judy.

Trish attended school in Rippey and received her GED.

She was married several times, but the love of her life was Merle Wayne “Andy” Anderson. They were married in Chicago in 1960 and got divorced in 1968. They stayed in contact over the years and, as fate would have it, they ended up living together from 1993 until he passed in 2002.

Trish did volunteer work for various animal shelters and organizations. One story that she was fond of telling was when she went undercover to bust an animal abuser. The abuser did get busted.

She had a dear love for animals, except for snakes. Snakes were her sworn enemy!

She loved dogs. If someone needed a babysitter for their dog and Trish could do it, she was there.

Trish was a member of the Red Hat Club for years and did charity work with the group. She also helped on election day at the polling stations.

Trish enjoyed puzzles and bingo but most of all spending time with her family.

During most of Trish’s adult life she worked as a mixologist in some of the nicer places in Chicago. Later she opened the Yale Cafe and Bar, which she ran until her health no longer allowed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Terry Riley.

Trish is survived by her son, Brian (Karen) Bodenberger of Manson; grandson, Drayden Hall of Manson; sister, Judy (Marvin) Crabtree of Perry; cousins; other relatives; and many friends.
