Perry Pride came outside Monday afternoon when some 50 cars, truck, SUVs and passenger minivans drove all around town in the PCSD Faculty and Staff Parade of Vehicles.

The sky was overcast when the parade began at 2 p.m. at the Perry Elementary School, but the 75-minute route was lined with warm hearts — socially distanced — all along the way.

Teachers waved from their decorated vehicles, encouraging the students to continue diligently with their studies and assuring them we will meet again.

The Perry Community School District is composed of about 1,800 students and some 250 faculty and staff members.

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds Reynolds has not issued a formal shelter-in-place order, but she did say forcefully and repeatedly Monday, “Stay home,” more than a dozen times during her press conference.

Reynolds said she had “a productive and positive phone call” with Dr. Anthony Fauci and Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts Monday. She said Fauci “was 100% supportive, saying that Iowa and Nebraska are ‘on the same page’ with guidance he’s providing other states.”
