Perry Elementary School staff will parade through the community at 2 p.m. Monday, hoping to wave and smile at any students who might stand outside their homes.

Teachers and staff from the Perry Elementary school hope their students are missing them as much as they are longing to reconnect with the youngsters.

As part of a continuing outreach effort, PES will hold a parade of vehicles throughout the community at 2 p.m. Friday. If foul weather intervenes the parade will be moved to Monday at 2 p.m. Parents and others can check the Perry Elementary School Facebook page for any word on a possible postponement.

Principal Ned Menke said a test run of the route required approximately 75 minutes, and notes those living along the far end of the circuit will need to time their expected drive-by appropriately.

Teachers will be waving and encouraging students as they pass by, and they ask that the students respect social distancing but are hopeful many will step outside to return greetings.
