A Perry man was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening another Perry man with a crowbar outside the grade school.
Larry Robert Grove, 41, of 2726 McKinley St., Perry, was charged with second-degree harassment.
The incident began about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Eighth Street in Perry, where the schoolchildren had been dismissed for the day.
In a video recording provided by the victim to the Perry Police Department, the victim in his vehicle “is slowing passing Grove in the school drop off/pick up area,” when Grove turns toward the victim “and has a crowbar raised in the driver window in such a manner as to intimidate and provoke fear of bodily injury into the victim,” according to court records.
In the video, the victim continues past Grove’s vehicle while Grove “nods his head up and down turned toward the victim as to again communicate a threat of bodily injury with the crowbar,” according to court records.
Previous tensions between Grove and the victim were reported. The victim told police on Nov. 2 that Grove allegedly “yelled derogatory and racial slurs at him” and told the victim to “go back to his country,” according to court records.
At that time, an officer with the Perry Police Department “spoke with Grove” and advised him “to cease the actions and to keep his distance from the victim,” according to court records.
On Tuesday, Jan. 4, an officer of the Perry Police Department saw Grove “driving past the victim, sticking his hand out of his truck and giving the victim the middle finger and making statements toward him,” according to court records.
Grove was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to his release on his own recognizance. He is scheduled for arraignment March 3 in Dallas County District Court.
*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
