A Perry man was arrested Tuesday evening after he entered the offices of the Perry Police Department in the company of his brother and a female.
Juan Jose Merlos-Melendez, 50, of 623 Fourth St. in Perry was arrested on a Dallas County warrant on a charge of second-degree sexual abuse in connection with an incident allegedly occurring in Perry between July 1, 2017, and June 1, 2018.
A criminal complaint filed Jan. 17, 2019, by the Perry Police Department alleged Merlos-Melendez entered the bedroom of a female under the age of 12, where the child “was in bed for the night.” According to the complaint, Merlos-Melendez touched the child’s genitals with his hand and mouth “while covering her mouth with his hand.”
Merlos-Melendez was booked into the Dallas County Jail about 9 a.m. Wednesday, where he is held without bond pending an initial appearance before the court.
