Perry Middle School students, faculty and staff enjoyed an extra measure of security by the Perry Police Department Friday, a day after a bomb threat unsettled the orderly calm of the grade school instruction.
Writing found Thursday on the wall of the Perry Middle School boys bathroom was believed to be a threat to blow up the school, according to a joint statement issued by Perry Police Department Chief Eric Vaughn and Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks.
The police and school spokespersons said there was no imminent threat to the safety of the students at the Perry Middle School or other school facilities.
No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, authorities said, but several possible witnesses and potential suspects have been identified.
Vaughn and Wicks said law enforcement and the school’s faculty ad staff take all threats seriously and investigate them thoroughly.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Perry Police Department at 515-465-4636 or the Perry Crime Stoppers at 515-465-5661.
Instruction for the 2018-2019 school year ends June 6.
