Perry Middle School student tests positive; eight quarantined

Asbestos abatement is scheduled to begin May 1 in the first phase of the $10 million Perry Middle School renovation project.

Perry Community School District Superintendent Clark Wicks has announced that one student at the Perry Middle School tested positive for COVID-19 Monday, Jan. 11.

All students and families in contact with this student have been notified, Wicks said, and eight students will be quarantined.

“Perry Community School District has a total of four positive cases, which is a rate of .002. Very low positivity, very safe,” he said. “All other students can attend classes as normal.”

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has infected 40 students and 19 staff members since classes began Aug. 19 in the PCSD, according to communications from the PCSD. The list of cases follows.
