Perry pocked by hail stones, pounded by heavy rains Wednesday

A severe thunderstorm rolled over the Perry area beginning about 6 p.m. Wednesday, bringing temporarily flooded streets, scattered limbs and penny-sized hail in its wake.

The National Weather Service’s severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. Wednesday for Dallas County and all of central and western Iowa. Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are forecast to continue into the evening.

High winds, large hail and heavy rain are predicted, with an isolated tornado or two also possible, according to the NWS.

Dallas County and the following Iowa counties are included in the severe thunderstorm watch: Adair, Adams, Audubon, Boone, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Clarke, Crawford, Decatur, Fremont, Greene, Guthrie, Hamilton, Harrison, Humboldt, Lucas, Madison, Mills, Minona, Montgomery, Page, Pocahontas, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Sac, Shelby, Story, Taylor, Union, Warren, Wayne and Webster.
