February 17, 2018

  • A caller said “her vehicle was vandalized sometime during the night.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she took her children to see their paternal grandmother today,” and “their father came by and took the kids.” The caller said the children’s father “has visitation but has not taken his visitation with the children for a couple of months.” An officer responded and advised the caller “that it was civil, and she would need to take him back to court if he is violating the rules of visitation.”
  • A 911 caller from Dawson said “his daughter’s grandmother pulled a gun on him when she brought his daughter home.” The caller was transferred to the Dallas County Sheriff’s office.
  • A caller said “she believes that something has happened to her son while” he was “at the dependent adult facility where she takes her son” on “the east side of Des Moines.” The caller “said her son had some bruises she can’t explain, a rash on his face, wet and cold sheets when she picks him up and issues with his diapers,” and “she thinks some sort of physical abuse is happening.” An officer responded and explained that the caller’s complaint must be directed to “the law enforcement agency who has jurisdiction over that location.” The officer noted the Iowa Department of Human Services “has a dependent abuse investigation division, and the care facility itself should have some sort of internal complaint system that she should” use. The caller said “no one is doing anything to help her with her complaint.”
  • Harley Ray Kidd, 28, 803 Third St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving while barred.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a debit card he found. An officer responded, attempted to make contact with the card owner and “logged the card into evidence.”

February 18, 2018

  • A caller said his dog was lost. The caller later called again and said the dog was found.
  • A caller said two children, ages 10 and 11, “have been left for long periods of time” in “the home alone.” The “caller wanted to know if this was okay.” An officer responded and said “it is up to the parents, and they are older where they can watch out for themselves.”
  • A caller said “she was driving by and saw a boy that looked to be about 5 years old walking around” in a “parking lot by himself.” An officer responded but did not find the wandering boy.
  • A caller reported someone who “has music up really loud and keeps revving his engine.” An officer responded but did not hear the nuisance noise.
  • A caller said “she needed help with her 9-year-old son.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “his ex-girlfriend was not letting him go in the house to get his belongings so he could move out.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “she found something in her yard and believes it belongs to a neighbor.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he lost his billfold.

February 19, 2018

  • A caller said someone “was in the front yard of the property, threatening him” with “some sort of a yard tool.”Officers responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said her son “is complaining of a tooth ache but then is destroying the house.” The woman said her son “keeps talking about where his gun is.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “someone was possibly in her yard yesterday” because “a few things have been moved around, and there is a lot of water on the north side.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her cat was lost. The caller later called and said her “cat is stuck between her apartment and the apartment below.” An officer responded and advised the caller “to contact the landlord.”
  • A caller said she is receiving “more harassing text messages.” The caller said “this is the third time she has reported the harassment to the police department.” An officer responded and assisted the caller in blocking the harasser “from texting her.”
  • A caller said “his son did not come home from school today.” The caller called again and said “his son was found walking along the street with a girl.”
  • A caller said “she is being harassed by her ex-husband via text and phone calls.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “someone had cut the wire from his security cameras today.” The caller said “someone had also slashed four of his tires from a new vehicle.” An officer responded.

February 20, 2018

  • A caller said his wife “just called him and said that she heard a loud noise.” An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
