  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department found a possibly abandonded or disabled vehicle and tried to make contact with the vehicle’s registered owner. The officer spoke with the owner’s father, who said “the vehicle will be moved a little later.” About 30 minutes later, the vehicle owner called and was “upset.” The owner said “that officers shouldn’t go to his parents’ house and wake them about his car.” About 30 minutes later the vehicle owner “and his dad came to the police department and complained about being woken up at midnight about the vehicle and complained about numerous other things.” The family “showed no intent to remove the vehicle” and were “advised the vehicle will be impounded at 5 a.m.” At 5 a.m. the officer “requested a tow for the vehicle due to its being parked on the side of the road for over 24 hours, two flat tires, shattered windshield and expired registration.” A tow service responded and removed the vehicle.
