  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and asked to speak with an officer “regarding getting her truck back from” someone. An officer responded.
  • A caller said she “bought a lock box in Perry at a garage sale” and “when she opened it, it had a birth certificate and social security card in there that did not belong to the people who sold it to her.” An officer responded and “advised her to drop off that birth certificate and social security card to the police department,” which the caller did.
  • A caller reported a hit-and-run accident. An officer responded and determined “a vehicle was traveling eastbound in the 2700 block of North Street and either left the stop sign very quickly or attempted to squeal the tires and lost control. The vehicle eastbound up and over the east curb of 18th Street between two power poles but struck a support cable, which caused the east power pole to break at the ground. The suspect vehicle swerved back out onto 18th Street and continued to travel northbound on 18th Street. Upon reaching the intersection of Park Street, the vehicle turned eastbound, cutting through a yard and then through the ditch. The suspect vehicle then continued eastbound on Park Street out of town.” Damage to the power pole was estimated at $2,000.
  • Dekalb County Deputy Sheriff Jimmy Martin of Smithville, tenn., called and requested officers of the Perry Police Department check the welfare of someone who “is sending suicidal threats to his sister in Tennessee.” Officers responded and learned the brother “was fine” and “is driving a semi and is basically living in his truck.”
  • An incomplete 911 call was received.
  • A caller said she lost her cell phone.
  • A hangup 911 call was received.
  • A caller said “she lost a license plate from her vehicle.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he lost his billfold.
  • A caller said her grandson ran away. An officer responded “to complete the runaway/missing person form.” The missing juvenile was “entered into the Iowa NCIC.” The caller later called again and said her grandson was found.
  • A caller reported “his estranged girlfriend writing checks on an account that she was no longer authorized” to use. An officer responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
