Perry Police Report July 28

July 27, 2018

  • A caller said her daughter “ran away again.” The caller said she retrieved her daughter from a juvenile detention center Wednesday night, and then “everyone went to bed,” but the daughter “was gone when they got up.” An officer responded, and the juvenile was later located at a Des Moines residence.
  • A caller said “she found a brand new stroller in front of the store.” An officer responded and placed the item “in the bike shed.”
  • A caller “said he was threatened by staff.” The Dallas County Sheriff’s office was notified.
  • A caller reported a fire hazard. The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was notified, and a firefighter responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department and said he “wanted to file charges against” someone “for being in his house when he was in jail.” The man said he let someone “stay there for a while,” but “prior to his going to jail, he had kicked her out.” He said “he heard she was in his house while he was in jail, and now things are missing.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “a group of five or six kids climbing on the roof of the middle shelter house” at Pattee Park. An officer responded.
  • A caller reported “smoke coming from their garage.” Officers responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A caller was concerned about “a boat they were attempting to buy” because “the registration paperwork didn’t appear to be up to date.” An officer responded and “advised of their options.”
  • A caller “said she had been scammed.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported a “dog lying on her porch.” The caller “said she was fine with the dog being there” but wanted to provide “information in case the owner calls.”
  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility, but it escaped custody prior to confinement.
  •  A caller reported “someone riding a small motor cycle repeatedly around the block with a small child on their lap.” An officer responded but “did not see anyone on a small motorcycle.”
  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.
  • A caller said she “observed a tenant assault another tenant” outside her residence. The caller “said she attempted to break up the disturbance.” An officer responded, made contact with the tenants in dispute and learned “both women were having an argument about how much exercise” someone’s “dogs get.” The officer advised the women “not to have any contact with each other in the future.”
  • A caller reported “an abandoned bike on the sidewalk in front of his residence.” An officer responded but “prior to the officer arriving,” the caller called again and said “the owner arrived and took the bike.”
  • A caller said he caught a cat running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility, but the cat “got loose while attempting to transfer to kennel.”

July 28, 2018

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “located a wallet at Wiese Park.” The officer “called the property owner,” who later retrieved the item at the offices of the Police Police Department.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
