March 27, 2017

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but could not catch the dog.
  • A caller said “someone has broken into his garage,” and “this time something has been stolen as opposed to the last time.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported the “smell of marijuana coming from the apartment complex where he lives.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she was “concerned about her ex-boyfriend,” who sounded suicidal in his text messages. Officers responded and tried to make contact with the ex-boyfriend.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he lost his U.S. Passport. An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “said her husband was getting threatening text messages and pictures.” An officer responded and determined the source of the communications was a phone scam.
  • A caller said his laptop was lost or stolen.

March 28, 2017

  • Selvin Ivan Santos-Ortez, 22, 522 N.E. Ninth St., Ankeny, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.
  • A caller requested a welfare check on someone who “was making suicidal threats.” Officers responded.
  • A caller asked to speak with an officer “regarding bad checks.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “he kicked” someone “out,” and “her belongings are in three bags and are left out so she can pick them up.” The caller said “he will be gone” from his residence and requested officers make an extra patrol of his residence.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a license plate she said she found. An officer responded.
  • A citation was issued to Daniel Richardson for first-offense nuisance burning.
  • A caller said “a group of kids took a bag of trash off the curb and dumped it in the street.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A citation was issued to Kirk VanKirkĀ for first-offense nuisance burning.

March 29, 2017

  • A caller said “her son is not wanting to get ready for school” and “is yelling and throwing a fit.” An officer responded, made contact with the child and “spoke to him about listening to his mother. He agreed to do so.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
