May 11, 2018

  • A caller said “gas had spilled” at a local gasoline retailer. The caller said “they had cleaned most of it but wanted to make sure it was safe.” The Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A caller said “his neighbor is parking trailers loaded with refrigerators” on the property, and the caller said “he is afraid a child might sneak into one of the fridges and get locked in.” An officer responded and “found several refrigerators and freezers with the doors still on them in three separate trailers.” An investigation was begun, and the Perry Compliance Officer was notified.
  • A caller “reported a male on a motorized scooter going the wrong way on Iowa Highway 141.” An officer responded but did not find the wrong-way driver.
  • A caller said “her neighbor’s 13-year-old son wrote his name on her driveway that had been redone with wet cement.” The caller said “the boy and his parents agreed to have him do some chores for her, but it never happened.” The caller said “she does not want to press charges, but she does want them to know it is not okay to vandalize other people’s property.” An officer responded and said he “could speak to her neighbors and their son about the situation to see if he would finish the job that he had agreed to do.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “requested to talk to an officer regarding harassment.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “a man in her apartment building was just bitten by a dog that had been fighting with another dog.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a “child was crying loudly, and none of the adults seemed to care.” The caller requested a welfare check on the crying child. An officer responded but “was not able to locate anyone in the area.”
  • A caller said her dog was lost. The caller called again and said her dog was found.
  • A caller said “she and her sister are locked out of their residence.” Officers responded and “assisted in gaining entry.”

May 12 2018

  • A caller asked for a welfare check on his son because the mother of his son “has not been home all day” and “is a known meth addict.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “there are people fighting in” a local bank. The caller said “there was a 1-month-old baby with them as well.” Officers responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said his daughter’s dog was lost.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “there were items stolen out of their cars.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “requested a welfare check on his teenage daughter.” The caller “said a neighbor called him at work and told him” his daughter “and her boyfriend were arguing.” An officer responded and made contact with the daughter, “who said she was fine,” that “her boyfriend was leaving” and that “she would call her dad.”
  • A caller said a pickup truck “passed him four times between Grand Junction and Rippey.” The caller said he “thought the person was possibly en route to Perry.” Officers responded but did not find the vehicle.
  • Benjamin Adams of 1801 Warford St., Perry, was issued a citation for first-offense nuisance burning.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said she has seen someone “sitting outside a friend’s trailer and drinking beer” and “staring at her in a way that makes her uncomfortable.” An officer responded and advised the woman to call the police if the beer-drinking starer comes onto her property.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a dog he caught running at large. The owner of a dog matching the description of the dog in custody called and retrieved his dog.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said her dog was lost. The woman later called and said her dog was found.
  • A caller reported an erratic driver. An officer responded, made contact with the driver and “learned he was having problems with his vehicle.” The officer “followed him to his residence.”
  • A caller said someone “lost her daughter,” who “left to go for a walk but now can’t find her way back.” Officers responded and located the missing person.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
