May 18, 2018

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department was given a set of keys found between Woodward and Granger. The officer made contact with the owner of the keys, who came to the police station and retrieved them.
  • The Perry Police Department School Resource Officer confiscated a set of handcuffs with keys from a student and made contact with the student’s parents.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “someone had opened a Paypal account under her name.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she and her boyfriend were arguing,” and “he was refusing to let her leave the residence.” An officer responded but before the officer arrived, the caller called again and “said the boyfriend was letting her leave.” The responding officer made contact with the caller and “gave her a Crisis Intervention card.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility. “Prior to getting the dog into a kennel, the owner caller” and “reported the dog missing.” The owner came to the Perry Animal Holding Facility, and the “dog was released to him.”
  • A caller said his wife saw “a man dressed in black, walking along the highway” between Rippey and Perry and “hollering and waving his arms.” A second caller made a similar report. The Greene County Sheriff’s office was notifed.
  • A caller asked for help with “a verbal argument between herself and her husband.” Officers responded and determined “arguing and pushing occurred.” The caller “agreed to leave the home for the night,” and “both parties were given Crisis Intervention cards.”

May 19, 2018

  • George Enrique Gonzalez, 39, 2013 W. Third St., Perry, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.
  • A caller from a local retail store said a female “has been hanging around outside the store for three hours.” An officer responded and made contact with the female, who said “she was waiting for someone from Des Moines to come and pick her up.” The caller said “she would like for her to leave the premises,” so the officer advised the female “that she needs to move along.”
  • A caller said her dog was lost. The caller called again and said her dog was found.
  • Jim Caufield of Perry was issued a citation for failure to obey a stop sign.
  • A caller “requested assistance with bringing a cat down from a tree.” An officer responded and rescued the cat.
  • A caller said a passerby walking two dogs “allowed them to do its business on his yard.” The caller said he advised the passerby “to get off his property, and the man yelled at him and ridiculed his height, saying he could beat him up.” An officer responded, made contact with the caller and determined the “dogs only urinated on his yard.” The officer did not find the passerby.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the animal to the Perry Animal Holding Facility.

  • Richard Allen Keller, 36, 507 Lucinda St., Perry, was arrested on charges of trespassing and carrying a weapon.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said her 16-year-old son was missing. An officer responded, and the juvenile was “entered into” the National Crime Information Center’s database as a missing person. The woman called the next day and said her son was home.
  • A caller said “her intoxicated boyfriend isn’t allowing her entry into their residence.” The caller said “she wants her car keys, but he isn’t allowing her to get them either.” Officers responded. The boyfriend agreed to “leave the residence for the night,” and he “retrieved some property” and “left with his mother.”

May 20, 2018

  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department “noticed someone sleeping on the bar top at” a local tavern. The officer determined the sleeping person was “waiting for the bar owner to finish closing.”
  • A caller said his neighbor was “burning yard waste.” An officer responded and determined the fire was a recreational fire.
  • A caller requested the Perry Police Department to make contact with the Creston Police Department and ask them to “deliver a message to his daughter,” informing her “that her sister” had “passed away.” An officer responded and later informed the caller the “message had been delivered.”
  • A caller said “he and his girlfriend are breaking up.” The caller “requested an officer respond and stand by while he removes his belongings.” Officers responded and stood by.

May 21, 2018

  • A caller said her neighbor was “being loud with her children.” Officers responded and made contact with the neighbor, who said she was “having a disagreement with her 14-year-old daughter” over the issue of “bedtime.” Mother and daughter “both agreed to talk about the issue the next day.”
  • A caller said the mother of his children “took off with their two daughters with another man.” The caller said he “did not know where they were heading off to only that” the other man drove a vehicle “with North Carolina plates.” Officers responded.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
