May 25, 2018

  • A caller reported a theft from the Perry Elementary School. An officer responded.
  • A caller said a pack of three dogs was running at large. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “there is a guy that comes into the store frequently,” and “they are having problems with him.” The caller said “he is not in the store at this time.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a woman has been sitting in a vehicle for two hours in front of a neighboring residence. An officer responded and found the “vehicle was sitting empty,” and “everything appeared to be okay.”
  • A caller “reported a trailer in the middle of the road.” An officer responded and found the “trailer blew a tire,” and the owner was “waiting for someone to bring him another one.”
  • A caller requested an officer stand by while the caller “picks up their child.” An officer responded and stood by.
  • A caller “reported a child 8 or 9 years old riding a motorized minibike up and down the street.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said someone was “making suicidal comments” and “requested a welfare check.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported nuisance burning at a neighboring residence. An officer responded and issued a verbal warning to the violators.

May 26, 2018

  • A caller said a vehicle was illegally parked. An officer responded.
  • A caller said “her vehicle was in the street and was just hit.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said her neighbor moved away and “left two dogs in the backyard in the dog run.” The caller said “she has been the one feeding and watering them.” An officer responded and made contact with the dogs’ owner.
  • A caller said “her car window is broken out.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported a male and female yelling at each other.” Officers responded and found “nothing physical” and the “situation calmed.”
  • A caller said she “found a walker in the middle of the road on Iowa Highway 141.” The caller said “they brought the walker home and found that a woman’s purse and wallet were there.” An officer responded and made contact with the owner of the walker and determined it had fallen from the back of a vehicle belonging to a local assisted-living facility.
  • A caller said a customer “was acting out and trying to reach through” the drive-through window of a local restaurant. An officer responded and made contact with the customer, who said the “statement is not true.” The officer determined to make a “review of the video.”

May 27, 2018

  • A 16-year-old female from Perry was issued a citation for first-offense curfew violation.
  • A caller said his dog was lost.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded.
  • A caller said she saw “a male that was out walking his dog,” and the man had “no pants on” but only “a T-shirt and underwear.”
  • A caller said “there was some damage done to his vehicle.” An officer responded.
  • A wireless 911 caller said “her landlord is telling her that she cannot park her car where she has been parking it.” An officer responded.
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department encountered someone who “flagged him down, wanting him to check on a dog.” The officer responded, made contact with the dog owner and told the owner “he should not keep his dog in the garage on hot days.”
  • A caller said he caught a dog running at large. A second caller said her dog was lost. The lost dog matched the description of the dog caught running at large, and the owner retrieved her dog.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a dog she caught running at large. A caller later entered the department offices in search of his lost dog, which matched the description of the dog caught running at large. The dog was returned to its owner.
  • Sara Jo Smart, 34, 1620 Sixth St., Perry, was arrested on charges of  driving while barred and driving under suspension.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said his brother-in-law “assaulted him by punching him in the face and pushing him.” An officer responded.

May 28, 2018

  • A caller reported seeing young children in an upper-story apartment “where there are no window screens.” The caller was “afrad a child could fall out the window.” An officer responded but could not determine which apartment was intended by the caller because “all windows appear to need screens in the building.”
  • A caller said she “found some bunnies in her backyard.” An officer responded and told the caller “what to do with the bunnies.”
  • A caller said “someone attempted to steal her” vehicle “last night.” An officer responded and found “nothing missing” and “no damage.”
  • A caller “reported dogs” nearby “are constantly barking.” An officer responded, made contact with the owners of the dogs and advised them of the complaint.
  • A caller reported a couple who “is not able to get into their vehicle after their dogs locked them out.” An officer responded and assisted the couple in opening their vehicle.
  • A caller said a dog was “being kept in a kennel in the bathroom,” with “no ventilation” and “no air conditioning.” An officer responded, made contact with the dog owner and advised him “that was not the best way to keep a dog.”
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said items were stolen from her vehicle. An officer responded.

May 29, 2018

  • Jose Alfredo Sanchez, 27, 2609 Otley Ave., Perry, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication-drug related.
  • A caller reported “a male in a white T-shirt going through the dumpster.” An officer responded.
  • A 16-year-old female from Perry was issued a citation for first-offense curfew violation.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
