  • A caller “called in to report he found a gun located in between” two downtown businesses. An officer responded, and a “black pellet pistol was placed into evidence.”
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department was “stopped” by “a citizen reporting some illegal dumping.” The officer responded and “found a name on the mail that was given to him by the reporting party. The addressee is deceased.” The officer “contacted the deceased person’s son, who advised he had someone cleaning up for him” and “would address the situation.”
  • A caller said a “tricycle had been located.” An officer was advised.
  • A caller said three dogs were running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dogs.
  • A caller said two dogs were running at large “on Iowa Highway 141.” An officer responded and “was able to locate the dogs” but “was unable to catch them.”
  • A caller said “a neighbor came over and told him there were three juveniles that appeared to be 14 or 15 years of age behind his garage” and “carrying an ax.” An officer responded but did not find the juveniles.
  • A caller said a family member “has schizophrenia and has been violent and threatening to other family members.” An officer responded and “suggested a committal,” but the caller said “the person is from Idaho and not from Iowa.” The officer recommended the caller “see if the behavior changes during Thanksgiving and if there are any problems, to call the police.”
  • A caller said “his girlfriend’s son” left “a note in regards to him going out camping for a few days.” The caller said he was concerned because his son “hadn’t taken any of his cold-weather stuff” and “recently started taking anti-depression meds.” Officers responded.
  • A 17-year-old male from Perry was arrested on a charge of possession of marijuana.
  • A caller said her sister’s cat was lost. The caller called again and said her sister’s cat was found.
  • Stephanie Walker, 43, 2112 Willis Ave., Perry, was arrested on a charge of first-offense OWI.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
