  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department could “assist with a custody exchange.” Officers responded, “confirmed that” both parties “had valid insurance per the custody agreement” and supervised the custody exchange.
  • A caller said a dog in a kennel “appeared to be in distress.” Officers responded and confirmed the “dog has a shelter and was in its shelter when officers arrived. All okay.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order to discuss “his sister” and “a scam.” The man said his sister “received a phone call from an unknown male” who told her “she had won the Iowa State Lottery.” The male “told her that she had won a Mercedes Benz and would need to send $750 to pay for insurance and taxes,” which money the sister sent. The male “called and requested more money.” Officers responded, and the man provided a name and phone number for the male scammer.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “that she is being evicted and that they already changed the locks.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “someone hit her dog, which was in the street in front of her residence, and didn’t stop.” The woman said “the dog is injured,” and she “wants the person to pay the vet bill.” An officer responded and informed the woman “the accident wasn’t a criminal offense,” and the medical bill “would be a matter to take to small claims court.”
  • A caller said “he received a phone call from someone who stated he had won $9,000” and “then wanted him to send $250, which he did not do, but the caller did learn his credit card number.” The caller said he “had the card cancelled,” but “now the person keeps calling him.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. A second caller reported a lost dog matching the description of the dog running at large reported by the first caller. The “owner picked the dog up prior to” the arrival of the responding officer.
  • A caller reported “a carload of kids tearing around the back parking lot.” An officer responded and made contact with the vehicle and its occupants, and the “kids agreed to leave the area.”
  • A caller said “his sister just saw someone looking in their front window.” Officers responded.
  • A caller said “a large white dog with black spots entered her yard and attacked her dog.” An officer responded but was “unable to locate the dog.”

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
