September 17, 2016

  • A caller asked to speak with an officer about “being evicted.” An officer responded.
  • A caller asked for “information about a vehicle that belongs to this son.” The caller “asked that an officer go with him to keep the peace while he gets the car.” An officer responded.
  • A caller from the Boone County Sheriff’s office confirmed “stolen plates found in their county on a vehicle.”
  • A caller said “a lot of noise and loud yelling” could be heard from a house nearby. Officers responded and found someone “upset about medication and some property.” The upset person “calmed down, and no assault occurred.”
  • A caller “complained of speeding vehicles at all time of the day and night.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she “had an agreement with a buy” of her cellular telephone. She said she “mailed the phone without checking payment and realized the buyer had not given any payment to Paypal.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a $1 bill he said he found “laying in the police department parking lot.” An officer responded and “logged the $1 bill into evidence.”
  • A caller said “he just was driving down First Avenue and that a mailbox lid was open, which he hit, knocking the mirror off his truck.” An officer responded and located the damaged mailbox.
  • A caller asked to speak with an officer about a vehicle. The caller said she “does not want it to be transferred to someone without a license.” Officers responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. in order to speak with an officer “about concerns for his safety that he has.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said two males “were possibly looking into the neighbor’s car with a flashlight.” Officers responded but did not find the prowlers.
  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department would “disperse a group of 15-20 kids playing in the parking lot east of” a local retail store. An officer responded and “dispersed the group of kids.”
  • A caller said he was “outside his girlfriend’s residence” and “can hear a lot of yelling.” The caller said he was “afraid that his girlfriend may be hurt.” Officers responded.
  • A 911 caller from Bouton said a man “came to the window of his residence yelling at him” and the man “has now gone into his garage.” The office of the Perry Police Department “attempted to transfer 911 to Dallas County, and it would not transfer.” A telephone call was made to the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, which said it would call the caller back “and speak with him directly.”

September 17, 2016

  • A caller said someone was “walking westbound on Iowa Highway 141 in the area of the river bridge.” Officers responded and spoke with someone who “was walking home to Dawson.”
  • A caller reported “a car alarm that keeps going off at the residence” next door “every few minutes.” An officer responded and found someone “with a possible broken leg.” Dallas County EMS was paged for the injured person.
  • A caller reported a “fire alarm at DMACC.” Officers responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.
  • A man and woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and “wanted to report their daughter missing.” An officer responded and spoke with the parents. A “runaway report was filled out” and an “entry made into the IA/NCIC.” The missing daughter was later found, and the “entry was cancelled.”
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a credit card “that he said he found in the street.” An officer responded and contacted the credit union that issued the card.
  • A caller said children were “riding bikes in the street.” She said the juvenile bicyclists “follow cars close and race down her driveway numerous times.” An officer responded.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. to report a driver of a vehicle “in his neighborhood that is ‘gunning it’ all the time.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “a big white guy with a cut off and tattoos (and) wearing a black hat” had “stopped by her house” and “threatened her and said if he caught her speeding again that he was going to come after her with his buddies.” The woman said did not move her car all day. She asked that an extra patrol be made of her residence. Officers responded.
  • A caller said her oven was on fire. She said she “just got the fire out” and “her and the kids are out of the apartment.” Officers responded, and the Perry Volunteer Fire Department was paged.

September 18, 2016

  • A caller said her teenage son “had been at a party and was very intoxicated.” Officers responded.
  • A caller reported a man in a vehicle in a parking lot. The caller said he “was told by some of the other customers that the male is operating the vehicle without keys.” Officers responded and found the man “was waiting for assistance due to the vehicle having mechanical issues.”
  • A caller “reported a horse running loose by the high school over by the football practice field.” An officer responded and “with assistance the horse was caught” and taken into custody. The owner of the horse later “called to report that she had a horse missing.”
  • A caller said “there is a turkey vulture wandering around,” and “it appears to have a broken wing and can’t fly.” An officer responded and with assistance the vulture was caught and taken into custody, where it later died. The carcass will be used the city of Perry to drive away other turkey vultures, according to Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn.
  • A caller said “that her husband informed her that he could take away whatever he wanted from her residence because that is what an officer had told him.” The caller said “her husband was going to clean out her house.” An officer responded and “advised her that she needed to contact a lawyer and this was a civil matter.”
  • A caller said a bicycle was stolen from his residence. An officer responded.
  • A caller said he “just got back” and “noticed the door was open.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog “in the front yard on a cable” bit his 10-year-old daughter when she “walked up into the yard to pet the dog.” An officer responded and “made contact with the dog owner” and determined “the dog was current on its rabies shots.”
  • A caller said “he was almost attacked” at a local retail store. The caller said someone “almost threw a bottle at him, but he blocked it, and it landed on the ground.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “she has missing property.” An officer responded.

September 19, 2016

  • A caller said a neighbor “was crying” because someone “took her phone and went through her wallet, taking items from it.” Officers responded and spoke with the crying woman. It was determined the person who made her cry “was possibly impaired by drugs and in possession of a knife.”
  • A citation was issued for no insurance to the driver of a vehicle registered to Fletcher Nichols, 48, and the “license plates were seized due to previous convictions.”
  • A caller said “someone broke her front passenger window and stole her purse containing her wallet, $180 cash, credit cards, ID and debit card.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “a small dog” has been in a vehicle “with the windows closed” for “two hours.” An officer responded.
  • A 911 caller said someone “has earrings that belong to her and won’t return them.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said she received “a phone call that tried to scam her.” She said a caller said “she owed the (U.S. Internal Revenue Service) so much money, or she would face jail time.” An officer responded.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. with a kitten found running at large. An officer responded and transported the kitten to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A caller said “someone tried to claim they were with” theĀ U.S. Internal Revenue Service. The caller said the phone scammer “tried to hang up but before they did, they said it was a scam.” She said the phone scammer “called back and told her where she lived and that he was going to kill her.” The caller requested the Perry Police Department provide an extra patrol of her residence. An officer responded.
  • A caller “requested extra patrol for her residence.” The caller said “her cousin told her that he was going to stop by later tonight, and she did not want to see him.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the dog to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.
  • A caller said “her husband is at her door, and she does not want him in there.” The caller said her husband “keeps picking fights with her.” An officer responded and informed the caller “about her civil rights and options.”

September 20, 2016

  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded and transported the dog to the Perry Animal Holding facility. The Humane Society of Perry was notified.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
