September 19, 2018

  • A caller said someone “has his motorcycle in a storage unit somewhere in Perry” and “has had it for two years and claims to have a mechanic’s hold on it.” An officer responded.
  • A caller “reported a family in front of” a Perry “church, panhandling.” Officers responded, and the “couple was taken to Community Opportunities for assistance.”
  • A caller “requested an officer at the high school” for a student who “was caught with a vape pen.” An officer responded.
  • A caller reported someone driving around the apartment complex “in a dune buggy-type vehicle.” An officer responded and made contact with someone who “admitted to driving it around” the “property but not on any city streets.” The officer informed the driver “that it was probably against the” property management company’s “rules to drive it on their property.” The “vehicle was loaded up to be taken out of town.”
  • A caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A woman entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said “she lost her debit card.” The card was later reported stolen.
  • A caller said she was walking in the park “at dusk,” and “came across a small boy who didn’t appear to be with anyone.” The caller “said she spoke to the boy, who stated he was going to camp out at the playground and sleep on the slide.” The caller said she gleaned from the child the location of his residence and walked him home but would like an officer of the Perry Police Department to check on the welfare of the child. An officer responded and found “there were eight children under 15 years of age” in the residence, and “there was confusion as to who was watching the child.” The officer made contact “with the step-dad,” who said “that they would not be left alone, and they would be taking the younger children to their grandmother’s for her to watch.”
  • A caller said his cat was missing.
  • A caller reported a barking dog. An officer responded and found “no one home at the residence.” The officer “left a business card advising the resident to call the police department.”
  • A caller said “there were possibly two people with flashlights around his camper.” An officer responded but “did not locate anyone with flashlights in the area.”

September 20, 2018

  • The Perry Police Department “placed a detainer” on Michael Terrace Cloud-Granger, 20, for first-degree theft.
  • A caller asked whether an officer of the Perry Police Department would “speak with his non-English-speaking neighbor” who “keeps mowing part of his yard and does a terrible job.” The caller said “he has tried to tell him not to, but he continues to do so.” An officer responded, made contact with the neighbor and explained the complaint, and “it appears they did comprehend.”
  • A patrolling officer of the Perry Police Department was given possession of a billfold by someone who said “he found it in his house.” An officer made contact with the item’s owner and restored it to his possession.
  • A caller from a local restaurant said a customer complained that another employee “smells like alcohol.” The caller said she “was instructed to have an officer respond and breathalyze” the employee in order “to obtain proof to terminate her.” An officer responded and explained that the matter “is a civil issue, and an officer cannot PBT someone for that purpose.” The officer “suggested she have the female get tested at the hospital.”
  • A caller from the cemetery said “there is an American flag balled up on the street.” The Perry Cemetery Supervisor was notified, and he “was not able to locate any flags on the ground, and all the flags on their poles are intact.”
  • A caller asked “for clarification on a no-contact order with a student and parent.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said he received a call from a tenant “who advised of a suspicious person who keeps walking back and forth in front of her residence.” The caller “said the man does reside next door.” An officer responded but did not find the strolling neighbor.
  • Timothy Michael Dolan, 50, 6930 N.E. 56th St., Altoona, was arrested on a charge of public intoxication.
  • A man entered the offices of the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. and said he “was kicked out” of his residence. The man “requested an officer respond to the residence with him” and “stand by while he picks up his belongings.” An officer responded.
  • An officer of the Perry Police Department removed debris from the roadway at First and Willis avenues.
  • A caller said “she and her 18-year-old sister” had “an argument,” and her sister “took off from the residence barefooted” and “hasn’t returned.” The caller “said she suffers from PTSD and depression.” An officer responded. The caller called again and said “her sister had returned home, and everything was fine.”
  • A caller said someone “messaged her on Snapchat to tell her that he was having suicidal thought, and he had a weapon on him.” An officer responded. Mobile Crisis responded. The unhappy person was “transported to Dallas County Hospital for treatment.”

September 21, 2018

  • A caller reported “someone in a car, taking water from the park and filling it with jugs by the campground and digging through the garbage.” An officer responded.
  • Cory Jones, 41, 2825 Absher Road, St. Cloud, Fla., was arrested on charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct and interference with officials acts.
  • A caller said “she received an email from her daughter,” who said “she was going to see her in heaven.” Officers responded.
  • A 911 caller said a dog was running at large. An officer responded but did not find the dog.
  • A caller said “his neighbor has a semi parked in the street” that was “making it difficult for him to get in and out of his driveway.” An officer responded and issued a citation “for violating truck parking on city streets.”
  • Haben Mebrahtom Reda, 23, 1624 Estella St., #7, Perry, was issued a citation for failure to stop in assured safe distance.
  • A caller said “a woman was pounding on her door” who “is the mother of an ex-friend of her daughter.” The caller “said she believes the woman is upset about something that happened at school.” An officer responded, but the woman at the door was gone.The officer “attempted to make contact with” the woman “but was unable to.”
  • Joshua Edward Schnuelle, 29, 114 Merrill Road, Castalia, Iowa, was arrested on charges of third-offense OWI, possession of marijuana, driving while suspended, no insurance and violation of instrucrion permit.
  • A caller said “in the middle of the night someone is banging on his windows.” The caller said he believes it is someone’s “boyfriend.” An officer responded.
  • A caller said “she just got home from work and does not know where her 12-year-old son is.” As an officer was responding, the caller called again and said “that her son had just gotten home.”

September 22, 2018

  • A caller said “there was an intoxicated male near her house.” Officers responded but did not find the intoxicated person.
  • Leslie Nataly Oblea, 21, 3006 Brookside Drive, Iowa City, was arrested on a charge of driving under suspension.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
