PHS Speech students earn honors, with chance to land more

AMES — Perry students Kayla McFarland, Madison Mason, Rylynn Gilmore and Camden Studer earned All-State honors at the Iowa High School Speech Association Large Group Festival at Iowa State University recently.

The foursome will be joined by eight fellow PHS students Mar. 9 in Nevada, where all will compete in the IHSSA individual State Contest.

  • Kaylynn Bousman — Spontaneous Speaking and Storytelling (“There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly”)
  • Rylynn Gilmore — Literary Program (“Moving On”) and Poetry (“Desks are Not Bulletproof”)
  • Camden Studer — Public Address (“My Son was a Columbine Shooter”) and Radio News
  • Ainsley Marburger — Improv and Solo Musical Theater (“Popular” from Wicked)
  • Madison Mason — Original Oratory (“Mental Illness”) and Radio News
  • Adriana Eastman — Prose (“The Cranberry Sauce has Something to Say”)
  • Brianna Fields — Literary Program (“Dirty Dishes”)
  • Dannah Karolus — Acting (“A Leap Year Leap”)
  • Kayla McFarland — Storytelling (“Tough Cookie”)
  • Zoe Meyer — Literary Program (“Trees”)
  • Jamileth Sarceno — Storytelling (“The Festive Dress”)
  • Aliyah Taggart — Poetry (“Trolls”) Bree Martin — Spontaneous Speaking
