The Perry dugout gathers just before the start of a recent contest. Perry is at Carlisle Monday before returning home Wednesday to host Bondurant-Farrar.

ADEL — First Perry seized a 4-0 lead. Then ADM rallied to tie the game. Then Perry responded to open a 10-4 lead. Then ADM began chipping away … until, finally, visiting Perry held on for a 10-7 win in Raccoon River Conference baseball Friday.

Perry (2-4, 2-1) plated two runs in the first inning and two more in the second to grab the early lead.

Brandon Kenyon walked, stole second and scored an a Gavin Boyer base hit, with Aaron Lockwood — who had followed Kenyon with a walk — eventually scoring on a passed ball.

Keghan West reached on an error in the second, scoring on a Kaleb Olejniczak double, with Olejniczak moving to third on an outfield error. He scored from there on another passed ball.

A single, walk, Bluejay error and a double sent three Tigers across the plate in the third, with a single run in the fourth creating a new game, at 4-all.

Neither team scored in the fifth, but Perry suddenly erupted in the sixth for their biggest inning of the season to date. Four hits, three walks and a sacrifice combined with a key ADM error to send six Jays across the plate as the guests seized a 10-4 lead.

ADM mustered two runs in their half of the sixth with two singles mixed among three walks. The Tigers threatened to come even closer and had the bases loaded with two outs when Avery Meister leaved Perry starter Lockwood and induced a ground out to slam the door on the rally.

The hosts managed a run in the seventh but it was not enough to change the outcome.

Lockwood earned the win in 5-2/3 innings. He allowed six runs on six hits and four walks while striking out seven. Meister recorded the final four outs, allowing a run on a hit, two walks and a hit batsman while recording one strikeout.

Olejniczak had a single and a double, Kenyon two singles and Boyer, Austin Carpenter, and Kato Dougan base hits for the Jays. Boyer also had a sacrifice, and two RBIs, with Olejniczak and Kenyon each driving in two runs while both Aaron and Kyle Lockwood had one RBI apiece.

Olejniczak, Kenyon and West each scored twice, with Carpenter, Dougan, and both Lockwood brothers scoring once. Justin Stammer drew three walks for Perry.

Nick Lundgren had a double and a RBI, and Logan Crannell a double to lead ADM at the plate.

Matthew West started and went 5-1/3 frames on the bump. He surrendered five runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks while hitting one batter and striking out two.

Kolton Benz relieved but did not retire a batter, allowing four runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk, with Crannell throwing the final 1-2/3 innings while allowing one hit and a walk and striking out one.

Perry is at Carlisle Monday, hosts Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday and then visits Ballard Thursday in their next three contests.
