DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa Pharmacy Association (IPA) recently installed nine new members to its Board of Trustees, including 2018 Perry High School graduate Sidney Vancil, who is in her third year of study in the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.
Vancil will serve the one-year term as one of two student pharmacists among the association’s trustees. Only one student from the University of Iowa and one from Drake University are chosen to serve each year. The installations occurred Sept. 22 at the IPA annual meeting in Cedar Rapids.
“We are thrilled to welcome our new Board members and bring fresh ideas and expertise to the association,” said Kate Gainer, executive vice president & CEO of the Iowa Pharmacy Association. “In Iowa, the depth of leadership and willingness of IPA members to serve strengthens pharmacy and healthcare in our state.”
Vancil studied pre-pharmacy at the University of Iowa before starting pharmacy school in 2020. She will graduate in May 2024 and aims to be a clinical pharmacist and to obtain a residency upon graduation.
Vancil was inducted into the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society in April 2022. During her academic career at the University of Iowa, she has been involved in numerous activities, including:
