Plaudits aplenty for Panorama girls cagers

PANORA — The Panorama girls were 20-4 overall and 14-1 in West Central Activities Conference action this season, and those numbers have resulted in six Panthers earning All-WCAC recognition.

Sophomores Payton Beckman, Angel Poldberg and Laci Rishel were all named to the All-WCAC First Team, with junior Ella Waddle place on the Second Team while senior Anna Holloway and junior Shey Storesund were placed on the Honorable Mention list. All-conference honors rely on statistics from league games only.

In addition, Beckman was chosen as an All-District player by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association as well as All-Region by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association. Full season stats are used for both lists.

Beckman had 269 points (17.9 per game) in WCAC action. She drained 36-of-100 3-pointers and 63-of-76 (82.9 percent) free throws while grabbing 58 rebounds (3.9 rpg), making 61 steals and handing out 40 assists.

Poldberg had 166 points (11.1) and 126 rebounds (8.4 rpg). She sank 47.8 percent of her shots from the floor, blocked 12 shots, recorded 44 thefts and had 28 assists.

Rishel scored 153 points (10.2) and cleared 52 boards (3.5 rpg) while making 40 steals and distributing 32 assists.

Waddle accounted for 113 points (7.5 pgg) and 54 rebounds (3.6 rpg). She had 36 assists and 46 steals while splashing 27-of-89 (30.3 percent) 3-pointers.

Holloway had 90 points (6.0 ppg) and 51 rebounds (3.4) while tallying 30 assists and 20 steals, with Storesund aiding the team with 36 points (3.3 ppg) and 34 caroms (3.1 rpg).

Beckman was recognized by two coaches groups thanks to her 454 points (18.9 ppg) adn 91 rebounds (3.8 rpg). She had 67 assists, 104 steals and nine blocks while shooting 116-of-143 (81.1 percent) at the foul line and 56-of-164 (34.1 percent) beyond the 3-point arc.

Head coach Kylee Boettcher was named WCAC Coach of the Year for her efforts in guiding the Panthers.
