LAST MEETING —  Van Meter scored a 28-14 win in Panora last season. The Bulldogs had 324 yards of offense and the Panthers 312 in a losing cause. Carson Rhodes ran 25 times for 74 yards and three scores for Van Meter; his longest TD run came from three yards out.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS — The Panthers will be hoping to catch the Bulldogs looking ahead to their showdown with Madrid next week. An upset would stir the playoff pot and almost certainly assure Panorama a postseason appearance, if not as a district runner-up, then as one of two 1A at-large picks.

Panorama has rushed for 20 touchdowns and 1,377 yards and thrown for 10 scores and 886 yards. The defense has come away with 14 interceptions and recovered seven fumbles, scoring once each on a pick and a scoop. The team also has two kick off and one punt return for TDs and have outscored their five district scores 167-73.

Quarterback Luke South is 51-103-4 for 884 yards and 10 TDs through the air. Garrett Simmons (13-320, 3 TDs) and Blaine Barber (8-130, 2 TDs) have been the chief targets.

Brody Rickheim has nine touchdowns and 520 yards on 81 carries to pace the ground attack. South (64-202, 3 TDs) and Barber (26-141) have also played key roles in the rushing game.

Gunnar Grunsted’s 36.5 tackles leads the defense, with Trey Cobb adding 34.5 stops while Daniel Jensen leads the unit with nine sacks.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS — Van Meter has outscored all foes 352-6 and own a 259-6 scoring edge in district play; they will play No. 3 Madrid in week nine. The team has 1,103 passing yards and 12 aerial TDs and 1,514 rushing yards and 33 scores on 229 carries.

Blake Fryar is 58-of-86 without an interception. He has 12 TDs and 1,075 yards to his credit.

Carter Coppinger (12-235, 3 TDs), J.J. Durflinger (8-229, 3 TDs) and Anthony Lowman (10-272, 5 TDs) have been the main selections in the passing game. Lowman has also returned two kick offs for touchdowns.

Carson Rhodes has visited the end zone 23 times on 106 carries which have generated 952 yards. Fryar has rushed 34 times for 162 yards and three TDs, with J.J. Richards scoring twice and gaining 130 yards on 25 carries.

Dylan Boles leads the stout defense with 26 tackles, with Drew Gordon having made 25 stops so far. Boles has four sacks and nine other tackles behind the line of scrimmage. The unit has returned three of 15 interceptions for scores and has recovered seven fumbles.
