Chase Brian Knowles, 19, of Redfield was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of eluding and numerous other charges after crashing his motorcycling while trying to elude law enforcement.

A Redfield man was arrested in Redfield Tuesday afternoon for possession of methamphetamine and numerous traffic and vehicle violations after crashing his motorcycle while trying to outrun Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Chase Brian Knowles, 19, was booked into the Dallas County Jail on a felony charge of eluding and charges of possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to obey a traffic control device, unsafe passing, speeding in a work zone, two counts of speeding, registration violation, failure to provide proof of financial liability and no valid motorcycle license.

The incident began about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, when a caller to the Dallas County Sheriff’s communications center said a male riding a motorcycle west of Waukee on U.S. Highway 6 was driving erratically.

According to a statement released by the Dallas County Sheriff’s office Wednesday, deputies located the motorcycle and were attempting to follow it and observe the driving patterns “when the motorcycle suddenly accelerated away from them in the 24000 block of Highway 6.”

Deputies then initiated a pursuit and attempted to pull the motorcycle over, but Knowles “refused to stop and accelerated away from the deputies at a very high rate of speed through the city of Adel.”

Knowles then proceeded westward on Highway 6 “all the way to Redfield,” where his vehicle “appeared to be malfunctioning, and the driver lost control of it in the gravel parking area of the Redfield Co-Op,” the statement said.

Knowles was then arrested without incident. He is being heldĀ in the Dallas County Jail on $10,000 cash or surety bond.

The motorcycle was impounded, and the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office statement said. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Adel Police Department.
