Report of burglary suspect leads to one-sided standoff Friday

Local law enforcement officers prepare to storm a house on Frog Creek Friday morning.

The report of a burglary led local law enforcement to forcibly enter a house on Willis Avenue Friday morning, where no suspect was found.

The incident began about 6:45 a.m., when a caller to law enforcement reported a burglar entering the residence at 711 Willis Ave. The caller said a woman and children were in the residence when the burglar entered.

Officers of the Perry Police Department and Dallas County Deputy Sheriffs responded to the report, according to public safety radio traffic, which also indicated the woman and children safety exited the residence.

A suspect was believed to remain in the residence, according to radio traffic. The man was said to be wearing a black sweatshirt.

Brandishing firearms, the law enforcement officers surrounded the residence, knocking on the door and identifying themselves. They forcibly entered the house about 7:30 a.m. and found it empty.

Neither the Perry Police Department nor the Dallas County Sheriff’s office have yet issued statements about the incident.
