A retirement party will be thrown Thursday from 2-4 p.m. at the Perry Police Department at 908 Willis Ave. for Officer Pat Jans, who announced his departure this week.
Jans has been on the Perry force since 1996 and has worn several hats over his 22 years, including work on the department’s former Special Response Team and many years as the department’s School Resource Officer.
Jans is also familiar to a generation of Perry Community School District children from his many years as an instructor in the DARE anti-drug program.
