The Animal Rescue League of Iowa Inc. announced Friday a $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the suspicious dog deaths near Dawson, first reported March 20 in ThePerryNews.com.
The offered reward is made in partnership with the Dallas County Sheriff’s office, the Animal Rescue League said.
In a Facebook post, the sheriff’s Facebook statement said the dogs “were located north of Dawson on March 16. We believe that someone from that area or north of that area placed them in the river.”
Volunteer sandbaggers in Dawson happened to spot the animals on Saturdaym March 16, and they were plucked from the flood waters near the bridge over the Raccoon River.
The animals had been shot, and each was placed is a separate garbage bag, according to an eye witness.
