A pet chihuahua was mauled to death Sunday evening by a pair of dogs, believed to be two huskies, that were running at large, according to a report received by the Perry Police Department.

The attack is believed to have occurred about 7 p.m. in or around the 1200 block of 18th Street in Perry.

An officer of the Perry Police Department responded and started an investigation.

A citation was issued to Aristeo Diaz for first-offense vicious dog.

According to chapter 55.07 of the Perry Code of Ordinances, “It is unlawful for any owner to allow an animal to run at large within the corporate limits of the City.”

Chapter 55.10 states that “no person owning, possessing, harboring or having the care of a vicious dog shall permit such animalĀ  to go unconfined on or off the premises of such person” unless the dog is confined to a fenced area or is muzzled and on a leash.

  1. A citation is not enough punishment for letting your dogs kill another dog. His dogs should be taken away. Find them a home where they are separated and no longer together, looking for prey, or IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN!
