The Perry Chamber of Commerce sponsored and the Rowley Masonic Community hosted an open house Thursday afternoon in celebration of the community’s first two years in its new mainstreet-based and neighborhood-based wing.
Rowley Board of Trustees Secretary and Treasurer John C. Powell of Perry was joined by many Rowley staff members in welcoming the visiting Chamber members and others for refreshments in the Main Street area of the new wing.
Construction on the $20 million addition began in January 2014, and residents of the facility moved from the old to the new rooms Feb. 11, 2015. The facility is licensed for 57 beds, and 54 are currently filled.
The 72,000-square-foot addition expanded the range of services at the continuing-care community, which offers independent living, assisted living, health care, dementia care and transitional rehabilitation.
“Everyone is welcome to tour this beautiful facility,” Powell said, and many people took him up on the offer, with Rowley Masonic Community Activity Director Gary Iles leading the tours.
The future remains uncertain for the original building, built in 1957, Powell said. He said the building could be repurposed for use as office space, but the Trustees have not yet finalized plans.
Why was there not much publicity about this event? I didn’t see or hear anything about it until reading this article, which was very well written.
