Ruth Ann Tippy, the daughter of Roy and Marie (Fuhrman) Tippy, was born in Cherokee, Iowa, Aug. 17, 1937.

She attended I. C. Catholic Schools and graduated with the class of 1956.

Following graduation, Ruth attended X-ray and lab school in Minneapolis.

Her first job was working as a lab technician in Ames. She also worked in X-ray and lab in Colorado for five years. Eventually, she moved back to her home town and headed the X-ray department at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital for many years. Unfortunately, her health forced her into early retirement.

Ruth enjoyed sewing reheatable rice bags. She made thousands of them over the years, and it gave her great joy to give them away.

She enjoyed spending time with her faithful companion, Charlie, a mixed fox terrier who was a very important part of her life.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.

Survivors include her brothers, Joe (Patricia) Tippy of Saulkville, Wis., and Mike (Karmen) Tippy of Cherokee; sister, Pat Miller of Cleghorn, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
