The 38th annual William Bell Memorial Tuba and Euphonium Day clinic and concert will be held Saturday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. the First United Methodist Church at 1100 Third St. in Perry, according to a Perry Fine Arts statement.
The annual event is held in memory of William Bell (1902-1971), world-renowned tubist and noted performer, composer and teacher. Born in Creston, Bell retired and later died in Perry.
Anyone interested in playing in the Nov. 5 tuba and euphonium ensemble should register Saturday between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m. at the church.
The event is open to all ages, and participants should bring their instruments, music stands and registration fees, which are $10 for students and $15 for adults. Fee will be collected the day of the performance.
Rehearsal will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a clinic and performance at 3 p.m. and a free public concert at 4 p.m. The First United Methodist Church is handicapped accessible.
A memorial performance will also be held at Bell’s grave site in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry from 5:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
