Scranton man, Woodward woman trade mutual assaults

Randall Gerald Venteicher, 51, of Scranton was arrested Thursday on a charge of third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault. Tara Nichole Sheeder, 48, of Woodward was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-offense domestic abuse assault.

A Scranton man and a Woodward woman were arrested Thursday evening for allegedly assaulting one another in Scranton.

Randall Gerald Venteicher, 51, of 167 190th St., Scranton, was charged with third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault.

Tara Nichole Sheeder, 48, of 301 Birch Ave., Woodward, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault.

The incident began Thursday about 7:30 p.m., when a Greene County Deputy Sheriff responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of 190th Street. The Carroll County Sheriff’s office also responded.

According to court records, Venteicher told the deputies that Sheeder locked him out of the 190th Street residence and “punched him in the face” when he tried to get in.

Deputies observed “a cut on the inner part of his lip,” according to court records.

Sheeder told the deputies that Venteicher “beat her up and kicked her in the stomach,” according to court records.

Deputies observed “some swelling on Tara’s right eye.”

Venteicher was held in the Greene County Jail. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Nov. 25 in Greene County District Court.

Sheeder was held in the Greene County Jail before she was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled for a pretrial conference Nov. 18 in Greene County District Court.

Venteicher was convicted of domestic abuse assault-bodily injury or mental illness in 2009 in Greene County District Court. He was convicted of first-offense domestic abuse assault in July 2020 in Greene County District Court.

Sheeder was convicted of assault in 2001 in Greene County District Court.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is innocent until and unless proven guilty.
