Secure your Santas Sunday night for high winds, NWS says

The National Weather Service offices in Johnston have issued a wind advisory for the Perry area from 6 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Monday.

Along with Dallas County, the wind advisory is in effect for Audubon, Guthrie, Cass and Adair counties.

Northwest winds from 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph, are expected across southwest Iowa, the NWS advisory said.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages might result. Be sure to secure any loose holiday lights and decorations.

Along with Perry, the wind advisory includes Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora,
Bayard, Casey, Waukee, Adel, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair and Fontanelle.
