The National Weather Service offices in Des Moines has issued a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday for Dallas County and all of central and west-central Iowa.
Adair, Adams, Audubon, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Clarke, Crawford, Dallas, Decatur, Fremont, Greene, Guthrie, Harrison, Madison, Mills, Monona, Montgomery, Page, Polk, Pottawattamie, Ringgold, Shelby, Taylor, Union and Warren.
Scattered strong to severe thunderstorms are developing this afternoon and will continue into tonight. The main threats will be damaging thunderstorm wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. An isolated tornado or two is also possible.
