A Sheldahl man was arrested about 11 a.m. Saturday after he came to the attention of the Perry Police Department when he was reportedly chasing a woman around a local retail store and screaming at her.

Leigh Richard Houghton, 53, of 307 Story St., Sheldahl, later left the store in a vehicle and was arrested by responding officers of the Perry Police Department on a charge of driving under suspension and on a Dallas County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of first-offense possession of marijuana.

Houghton is held at the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000 cash or surety bond. His initial appearance is scheduled for Sunday morning before a Dallas County Magistrate.

The Dallas County arrest warrant was issued in June after Houghton failed to attend a preliminary hearing in connection with his arrest March 13 by an officer of the Perry Police Department.
