The sixth and seventh graders composing the St. Patrick Middle School Mock Trial Team held their own in competition last week against seventh and eighth graders from schools in Des Moines and West Des Moines.

“I could not be more proud of this team,” said AnneMarie McDevitt, a Perry lawyer who assisted Mock Trial Team Coach Darcy Spellman. “It is really impressive to watch them put it all together and take on fairly complex legal issues as 11- and 12-year-olds. They never cease to amaze me in how far they come and grow into their roles.”

The budding barristers included students Luis Sandoval, Reygan Gerkins, Taryn Nehring, Sophia McDevitt, Mylah Meis, Betsy Sandoval, Lilly Riley, Ashlynd Hudnell, Ella Farmer, Kaylee Wuebker and Delaney Platt.
