The St. Patrick Catholic School in Perry has moved up to Saturday, March 21 the check out day for students being dismissed for the virus emergency. St. Pat’s School Principal Kandice Roethler sent the following letter to parents Thursday:
Good afternoon Saint Patrick School families,
At this time under guidance from the Diocesan Schools Office, we are moving up our day for check out to Saturday, March 21 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. We are asking that all families send at least one adult to come in and gather materials for all children attending Saint Patrick School. At this time, we’d also ask that all children NOT be present unless it is absolutely necessary.
We are asking that anyone who has traveled out of the country or out of the state of Iowa during Spring Break should not enter the building and limit interaction with staff members and parents who are helping with this process.
During this time, a limited number of technology devices will be available for check-out from the school office. An adult must sign a liability waiver for a device. CTO applications will be sent home with all families that have not yet applied. The first round deadline is still April 3; it is imperative that this application is still completed to secure financial assistance for the 2020-2021 school year.
For those individuals who do not want to enter the building, we will have adults available to gather your child’s materials from the school with the exception of signing out a device. To do so, please pull up and park your car with your flashers on in front of Lucinda St. The volunteer adults will get the name and grade levels of your children and will then gather their materials from the classrooms.
I want to stress at this time, this is a come and go time to gather your child(ren)’s materials and not a time to gather socially with those who are also in the building. Please make every attempt to make the process quick and seamless. If you are unable to gather materials at this time, please make every attempt to send another adult who can get materials. At 10 a.m. the building will get locked to all non-essential individuals until further notice. This means you will have to work to help your child learn at home without essential tools.
