A distraught man who threatened to harm himself with a shotgun was taken into custody early Wednesday in Woodward after a 90-minute standoff with agents of the Woodward Police and Dallas County Sheriffs office. In the picture, the man's face is obscured in order to protect his privacy.

A 90-minute standoff in Woodward ended peacefully early Wednesday morning when negotiators convinced a distraught man to surrender his shotgun and turn himself over to authorities.

The Woodward Police Department was assisted by deputies of the Dallas County Sheriff’s office in the incident that began about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday when law enforcement was dispatched to a private residence where an armed man was threatening to harm himself.

The man gave himself up about 1:45 a.m. and was taken into custody without further incident.
