The stolen vehicle was crashed in the 18500 block of Wendover Avenue north of Granger after a 10-mile pursuit from Woodward.

A hot pursuit arose in Woodward late Saturday night and ended near Granger when the driver of a vehicle stolen from Madrid attempted to outrun a Woodward Police Department patrol car and crashed along Iowa Highway 141.

The chase began about 11:45 p.m. in the 900 block of S. Main Street in Woodward, when a Woodward Police Department officer tried to initiate a traffic stop after observing a 1999 Buick being driven erratically while traveling southbound on Main Street.

The driver of the car did not stop but proceeded southward on Iowa Highway 210 and then eastward on Iowa Highway 141 at speeds sometimes topping 70 mph. The fleeing driver apparently lost control of the vehicle in the 18500 block of Wendover Avenue near Granger.

The stolen vehicle was registered to Ron and Mary Berg of Madrid and was suspected of involvement in a hit-and-run accident in Madrid earlier in the night. The Madrid Police Department and Boone County Sheriff’s office are investigating the theft and collision.

The Dallas County EMS was paged to examine the suspect or suspects prior to transport to the Dallas County Jail by the Woodward Police Department.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office also responded to assist.
