The Perry Police Department is searching for a Perry teen reported missing Sunday.

A report of a trespasser on the campus of the Perry High School and Middle School brought the Perry Police Department to the scene Tuesday and led the school administration to issue a statement Wednesday.

According to call records of the Perry Police Department, the department received a call shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday reporting a “person who was served with a no-trespass order was on school grounds.”

The caller said a school staff member observed the person walking within 30 feet of the school grounds.

The intruder, described as a black male wearing a stocking cap, was located by a Perry Police officer and identified as Junior Karla, 26.

According to the call record, “It was decided that no charges will be filed for trespass but to explain to Karla that he is not allowed on school grounds at all.”

An officer spoke to Karla, who objected, according to the record, “stating he has the right to do whatever he wants.”

Perry Community School District Lynn Ubben issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon, alluding to an incident occurring “[e]arlier last week” on the campus of the Perry High School and Middle  School.

“Earlier last week, staff and students reported a stranger in the HS/MS building. Building administrators notified School Resource Officer Pat Jans and the Perry Police immediately.

“The subject was located, identified and questioned by the responding officers.

“In an effort to ensure a safe school environment, staff and students have been and will continue to review building safety plans and procedures.

“This type of incident could occur at other public venues so we encourage parents to take some time to discuss these safety issues with their children.

“We remain vigilant as a community and continue to make safety a priority.”

It is unclear whether Ubben was referring in her statement to the Tuesday incident or an earlier one.
