Deion Christopher Elmore, 21, of Ames was arrested Tuesday on charges of interference with official acts, providing false identification information, reckless driving and as a fugitive from justice in St. Louis County, Missouri.

An Ames man with warrants out of Missouri was arrested Tuesday evening after a Waukee Police Officer stopped his flight from a traffic stop with a stun gun.

Deion Christopher Elmore, 21, of 1300 Cocaenna Road, Ames, was charged with interference with official acts, providing false identification information, reckless driving and as a fugitive from justice in St. Louis County, Missouri.

The incident began Jan. 25 about 6 p.m. in the 1300 block of S.E. Kettlestone Boulevard in Waukee, where an officer of the Waukee Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 Ford Escape for failure to use headlights and improper lane change, according to court records.

The officer made contact with the driver, Elmore, who allegedly “provided multiple names, Tyree Cyrus, Tyree Syrus, Dione Syrus, Dieon Elmo,” before leading the officer “on a short vehicle pursuit,” according to court records.

Elmore than “exited his vehicle and began to run on foot,” leading to the officer’s “utilizing a Taser ECD device on him to effect an arrest,” according to court records.

Elmore was originally booked into the Dallas County Jail as John Doe. A record check subsequently identified him as the subject of two active arrest warrants in St. Louis County, Missouri.

Elmore is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $15,560 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a hearing Feb. 1 in Dallas County District Court.
