The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Des Moines has forecast windy conditions for the Perry area Sunday morning.

Travelers should expect gusty northwest winds in the early morning hours, with little change in the weather anticipated through at least daybreak. Mostly cloudy skies and gusty northwest winds will prevail.

Sustained wind speeds of 15 to 30 mph are forecast, with some gusts to 35 to 50 mph possible. Windy conditions will persist until about 8 a.m. and then gradually diminish later in the morning, the NWS said.

Winds of this magnitude can make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles and might displace trash and other loose objects and break small branches.

Dallas County towns in for the high winds include Adel, Booneville, Bouton, Dallas Center,  Dawson, De Soto, Dexter, Granger, Linden, Minburn, Perry, Redfield, Van Meter, Waukee and Woodward.
