Suspects sought in Sunday morning armed robbery in Boone

A man brandishing a hand gun leaps on the counter of the Casey's General Store at 1127 Story St. in Boone early Sunday in the course of an armed robbery. There were no injuries in the incident, which remains under investigation.

The Boone Police Department seeks the public’s help in identifying suspects in a robbery that occurred early Sunday morning at the Casey’s General Store at 1127 Story St. in Boone.

According to security camera footage, two white males wearing hooded sweatshirts entered the store shortly after midnight. The first wore a bandanna over his face and brandished a handgun.

The store clerk was told to lie on the floor of the store room, according to Boone Police Department Commander John Sloter. The clerk was later told to open one of the cash registers, which she did.

The two thieves made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and a case of cigarettes. Sloter said the suspects left on foot, headed in a southeasterly direction following the robbery.

There were no injuries in the incident, which remains under investigation.
