Thunderstorm pounds Perry; NWS watch in effect until 10 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm pounded Perry Saturday afternoon beginning about 4:30 p.m., and the National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m.

A tree blew down at the property of Steven and Karla Ewing at 21001 130th St. east of Perry. The felled tree was blocking 130th Street just east of L Place. The Perry Police Department responded, and the Dallas County Secondary Roads Department was notified.

Along with Dallas County, the severe thunderstorm watch includes the Iowa counties of Adair, Adams, Appanoose, Audubon, Cass, Cedar, Clarke, Davis, Decatur, Des Moines, Guthrie, Henry, Iowa Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Lucas, Madison, Mahaska, Marion, Monroe, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshsiek, Ringgold, Taylor, Union, Van Buren, Wapello, Warren, Washington and Wayne.
